I don't really like the idea of "Building a Personal Brand".
I think of it more as "Finding Your Voice".
When I performed standup comedy for a number of years, my writing coach would always encourage his students to Find Their Voice.
What that meant to me was being authentically you in front of others.
A person brand to me sounds curated. It feels like an act.
When you find your voice, you strip away all of the facade, and show your true self to others.
That is my goal.
I want everyone who meets me to meet the guy they thought they were getting after listening to my podcast or following me on social media.
That way, I never have to remember how I am supposed to be. I just get to be myself.
That is where real connection comes from.
If you choose to leverage content to raise awareness of who you are and what you do, the most sustainable path is to show the world who you really are.
Don't fake it til you make it. Make it, so you don't have to fake it.
