In this clip from Self-Funded with Spencer, John Butler shared the story of Tom Emerick's "Center Of Excellence" strategy for Walmart's healthcare.
Instead of going through the traditional model of healthcare for a business of Walmart's size, Tom came up with the idea of just directly treating them through clinics around the country, which actually provided better care and saved Walmart almost two BILLION dollars in the first year.
Obviously, most of us aren't working with companies of Walmart's size; but every employer can and should seek alternative and better ways of providing healthcare to their employees.
