Transparent PBM's are becoming more popular in the employee benefits world, and Rachel Strauss of EHIM sat down with me for installment 4 of Self-Funded w/ Spencer on the Road.
Rachel discuss the problem with "rebates", and now employers view them as free money. It's no different than getting money back on your taxes - it means you are overpaying and having to wait for your money to be returned back to you at the end of the year.
To me, I made the analogy between rebates and an Experienced Reward on a stop loss contract, where you pay more premium up front in the hopes of having more of it returned at the end of the year.
