95% of Surgeries Aren't Even Necessary? π±π€ #shorts #surgery #medical #healthcare #waste #podcast
Are 95% of MSK surgeries really unnecessary?
Heidi Ojha and I discussed it on the newest episode of Self-Funded with Spencer.
If a surgery is no more effective than doing nothing at all, not only is it cheaper to "do nothing", but actually safer. More surgeries = more risk, and the more that can be avoided the more lives that will be impacted for the better.
This isn't an anti-surgery episode; surgery saves lives, but unnecessary surgeries are wasteful and dangerous.
