What If Your Employer Paid You $10,000 To Get Healthy? π©ΊππββοΈ #shorts #health #healthcare #podcast
How do you incentivize wellness? A $10,000 prize is a pretty good start.
Two of the biggest ongoing issues in self-funding are getting employees to focus on their wellness and getting them to engage with their healthcare plans.
Heather Bowers shared an approach one of her clients took to tackle both of those issues: they first made healthcare as simple and clear for their employees as they could, and then they incentivized them to actually engage with their health by offering $10,000 to the employee who engaged with it the most.
(The tracking was through an external company, so the employer wasn't directly tracking their employees' health info)
Of course, the answer to employee engagement isn't to offer them all $10,000; it's a complex problem that doesn't have an easy solution. But, one thing is pretty clear: we need to focus on the end user and make sure they're properly motivated to invest in their health.
